New England VS New York...Which will YOU be cooking??
It's officially SUPERBOWL week!! Time to get your menu together for the big game on Sunday. Here are two YUMMY recipes you can choose from...which one will YOU be cooking ;)
OPTION ONE...NEW ENGLAND Patriots CLAM CHOWDER: Perfect for a chilly winter Sunday! Toss a log on the fire, get the soup cooking on the stove, and perhaps even make some paninis to go with it!
RECIPE FROM: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/new-england-clam-chowder-i/
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
4 pices of bacon sliced
1 1/2 cups water
4 cups peeled and cubed potatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
ground black pepper to taste
3 cups half-and-half
3 tablespoons butter
2 (10 ounce) cans minced clams
Recipe From:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/New-York-Style-Pizza/Detail.aspx
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
2/3 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons olive oil
OPTION ONE...NEW ENGLAND Patriots CLAM CHOWDER: Perfect for a chilly winter Sunday! Toss a log on the fire, get the soup cooking on the stove, and perhaps even make some paninis to go with it!
RECIPE FROM: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/new-england-clam-chowder-i/
- Place diced bacon in large stock pot over medium-high heat. Cook until almost crisp; add onions, and cook 5 minutes. Stir in water and potatoes, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, and cook uncovered for 15 minutes, or until potatoes are fork tender.
- Pour in half-and-half, and add butter. Drain clams, reserving clam liquid; stir clams and 1/2 of the clam liquid into the soup. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until heated through. Do not allow to boil.
Recipe From:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/New-York-Style-Pizza/Detail.aspx
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- Sprinkle the yeast over the surface of the warm water in a large bowl. Let stand for 1 minute, then stir to dissolve. Mix in the flour, salt and olive oil. When the dough is too thick to stir, turn out onto a floured surface, and knead for 5 minutes. Knead in a little more flour if the dough is too sticky. Place into an oiled bowl, cover, and set aside in a warm place to rise until doubled in bulk.
- Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C). If using a pizza stone, preheat it in the oven as well, setting it on the lowest shelf.
- When the dough has risen, flatten it out on a lightly floured surface. Roll or stretch out into a 12 inch circle, and place on a baking pan. If you are using a pizza stone, you may place it on a piece of parchment while preheating the stone in the oven.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with oregano, mozzarella cheese, basil, Romano cheese and red pepper flakes.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until the bottom of the crust is browned when you lift up the edge a little, and cheese is melted and bubbly. Cool for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
ENJOY! And may the best recipe win :)

WINTER Outdoor Decor...
With the holiday season behind us, and the decorations packed away, your once sparkly and bright entranceway can look down right DULL!
Here are a few ideas to carry you through the winter until those flowers start bloomin'! Think greens, pines, branches, burlap and winter fun...
1. A simple fresh green wreath without the bows and decor looks pretty on your door without saying, "OOPS! I forgot to take down my Christmas wreath!" Place a potted pine in on your front step as an additional touch and nice welcome to your home. Keep it simple - no bows, no frills!

2. A sled is a fun way to say "Happy Winter"! Just be sure to keep it decorated with greenery and branches and once again omit the bows and frills...

3. Mittens are an unique and fun accessory for winter! Hang them on your front door with branches and greens. Stay away from red or green mittens...stick with neutrals like white, gray and beige.
4. Barrel O'Fun! I love this idea! Place a potted pine inside a wheelbarrel. Add pine cones and branches to fill the barrel. Perfect!

Great product - what a steal!, October 28, 2011 This is one item that you will not be disappointed in. It is larger than it looks and very heavy-duty, like cast iron is supposed to be. My 75 year old mom bought it and sent me this review "Boy, is it heavy!!! It is cast iron and as big as a 12" fry pan. The lid is also heavy. Thank goodness there is a small half circle on the opposite side to hold onto when picking it up or I wouldn't be able to do it. It will hold 4 sandwiches at once of 4 steaks or 4 chicken breasts for grilling. I'm sure I could use it for that. It doesn't need to be "seasoned" either. Even the handle is cast iron so EVERYTHING gets HOT. I'll be careful" By Ann from Texas |
Wonderful!, July 21, 2011 This is a great pan! We love using it for paninis and fish. It is heavy, but that is normal for this type of pan. We love the lasagna pan too! It's a real steal when on weakly special and you won't regret it. By Happy from Va |
Like the pan but it's heavy, July 18, 2011 Like this pan but it is VERY heavy. That's a great thing while cooking but not so good for an older person picking it up. I would say the weight is close to 25 - 30 lbs. So if you are a younger person with good muscles this pan is awesome, if you are an older person or giving it to one, think twice. By Dmae from Oklahoma |
Exceeded the quality I expected, January 27, 2011 WOW. This is one of the best pans I've ever purchased. Amd it's gorgeous to boot. I'm a foodie and very fussy. I've found nothing wrong with this. Will have it to pass down to the next generation. Thank you for such a great product. By Bet from Minneapolis, MN |
wonderful product, November 10, 2010 This grill is so awesome I do all kinds of stuff even hot dogs taste really good in it! By jj from dearing |
